ECHOLS COUNTY HAZARD MITIGATION UPDATE KICK-OFF PUBLIC HEARING THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 2024 COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING ROOM 110 HWY 94, STATENVILLE, GA The Echols County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in cooperation with the Southern Georgia Regional Commission (SGRC), invites the public to attend a Public Hearing to discuss the Echols County Hazard Mitigation Plan and provide an opportunity for public comment. The plan update is being developed in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, which requires local governments to have an approved Hazard Mitigation Plan addressing natural hazards as a condition of receiving future federal disaster assistance. Comments are being accepted by email at lhylton@sgrc.us, fax at 229-333-5312, or mail them to 1937 Carlton Adams Dr., Valdosta, Georgia 31602. The previous draft of the plan is available on the SGRC website at: www.sgrc.us.
